Crime rate down in April

With all the bad news going around lately it seems as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Rusties received news from ADT showing a welcome decrease in crime rates of Rustenburg. “Our statistics indicate that crime in Rustenburg and the surrounding areas have decreased since last month. April 2013 to May 2013 incidents have decreased by 11”.

Allegedly there were 27 housebreak-ins and Theft cases, 2 Robberies, 1 Fire and 2 Attempted Housebreak-ins in April 2013. Acording to ADT’s statistics these rates were down to only 19 Housebreak-ins and Theft incidents and 2 Fire incidents in May 2013.

Friday’s are allegedly indicated as the day most likely to see an incident. The peak crime concern times are between 23:00 and 05:00 at night and 13:00 – 18:00 in the afternoon. It would seem that

ADT gave these safety tips:

  • Always ensure that your alarm is activated, even when you are at home.
  • Consider installing outdoor detector beams.
  • Turn off electrical appliances when not being used to reduce the risk of a fire.
  • Teach your children what to do in an emergency and who to call when they need help.

It is a welcome notion to see the crime rate fall but this is no reason to let our guard down. Fact is that there will always be a form of mischief roaming around. Always be prepared and ready for an emergency.
