A city that cares

A city that cares

It has been said that Rustenburg is a city that cares.  Actions speak louder than words and the actions of the people of Rustenburg surely show that they definitely do care.  The past week (5 – 12 May) was hospice week.  Hospice hosted a campaign to gather food, clothing and blankets for those who are less fortunate.  Another example is the Funky Family Fun Fair that will be taking place on 1 June 2013.  These are only a few reasons why we can say that Rustenburg cares.

On 24 May 2013, there will also be a opportunity for you to do good.  A fundraising evening will be held for the “Happie Klub”.  The “Happie Klub” supplies food and clothing for less fortunate children in schools.  At this moment they are helping 110 children.  “The stories that you hear are heartbreaking.  The circumstances these children are growing up in, is simply mortifying.  They have children that go to school in shorts, without a jacket or shoes in the middle of the winter.   Another heartbreaking story is that one of these children’s family share a house with 27 people.  There is also a family that even had to share one toothbrush” says Esmelinda.

The fundraising night will be a fun filled eventful night with entertainment from local artists such as Manie Jackson, Jenny Kirsten, Esmelinda and Shingwedzi.  They are inviting everyone to join them for this evening.  All donations are welcome. You can join the club for only R50 per person.  They need food, clothing, shoes, toiletries and any other donations that can be thought of.  Food and beverages will also be available on the night.  Tickets are available at 40 Heystek Street.  For more information please contact Esmelinda at 076 749 6181.
